Planar Magnetic Technology

The Egret is a premium open-back planar magnetic driver headphones, designed for audiophiles seeking a spacious listening experience. The open-back design delivers a wide, transparent soundstage with deep bass, clear mids, and refined treble, embodying Sendy Audio’s signature balanced and organic sound signature.

At its core, is a large 98 × 84mm planar magnetic driver featuring a nano-scale diaphragm under 800 nanometres thick, developed using Electron Beam Evaporation Deposition (EBED) for atomic-level precision in aluminium circuitry. This enables lightning-fast transient response, lifelike dynamics, and exceptional detail retrieval across a 20Hz – 40kHz frequency range.

Engineered for a spacious, transparent soundstage with precise imaging, ideal for acoustic, jazz, classical, and vocal-centric music.

Design & Construction

Handcrafted with solid North American black walnut earcups, each unit showcases a unique wood grain due to natural variations, combining timeless craftsmanship with advanced acoustic engineering. The wood is selected for both aesthetic beauty and acoustic damping, contributing to a warm, balanced tonal character.

Consistent with the rest of the Sendy Audio product line, the Egret uses a suspension-style headband made of spring steel. The strap on the headband is made with foam and soft lambskin. Similarly, the earpads on the Egret are also made with lambskin, which makes the earpads soft and pliable. The earpads are held in place using clips which means they can easily be replaced by the user when they wear out.

The ergonomic shape and angled ear pads align drivers naturally with the ear canal, improving spatial perception and long-term comfort.

Comfort & Isolation

Having a suspension-type headband with a leather head pad makes the Egret headphones comfortable on top of your head since the weight is distributed properly. It also helps that the Egret only weighs 420g, which is relatively light for a pair of planar magnetic headphones. Using more lambskin leather on the earpads also helps with the comfort, as this allows the soft foam inside the earpads to conform to the side of your head accurately.

Together with the earcup adjustment, the soft earpads ensure that the earcups can be adjusted to make a good seal around your ears. The slanted connectors on each earcup make sure that the cable connectors don't drape over your shoulders either. Overall, the ergonomic design of the Egret is well thought out, allowing the user to focus more on the music.

Sendy Audio's Cable Design

Sendy Audio includes a 30 strands of Furukawa Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) as standard, 10 strands of silver-plated copper, and 10 strands of enamelled gold-plated copper for optimal signal purity with the Egret headphones. The cable jacket features graphene-reinforced PVC for enhanced durability, flexibility, and noise resistance.

They connect to the headphones via dual 2.5mm balanced jacks, supporting quick cable swaps and upgrades. Supplied with both 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended adapters, ensuring compatibility with portable DAPs, smartphones (via dongles), and high-end desktop amplifiers.
